Ford Competition

In a unique competition launched this month, Ford is offering budding artists the chance to have their artwork featured in an advert for the all new Ford Fiesta, along with the added opportunity of their winning piece being featured in Style magazine.

Ford has invited three artists to produce artwork for the project, each asked to sum up the essence of the stunning new Fiesta model. The artists include film-maker Tom Dean, illustrator Al Murphy, and designer-illustrator Colin Henderson, all of whom are representing the new Fiesta in very different ways. Dean, who works in advertising, has created a Polaroid ‘flick book‘: a pacey subversion of the hackneyed motor show format. Murphy, whose screw-ball characters delight a huge roster of clients, has made a psychedelic photographic set with the new Fiesta at its centre; and Henderson has drawn a multi-coloured illustration of the new Fiesta, inspired by the notion of a magic carpet ride, and informed by his love of ethnic art.

Ford is now on the look out for another artist. In the form of a competition, potential new artists are being asked to submit works through the website www.this-is-now.co.uk/gallery.

Creatives from News International, Ford and Eyestorm will then judge the entries to find the winner, who will also receive £2,000 worth of Eyestorm vouchers.

The Fiesta is a long-established marque, with over 30 years of success to its name. The new Fiesta draws on this heritage, responding to the demands of the modern city and a young, urban clientele. It is this aspect to which the three artists have responded - and their original works promise to be a long way from traditional car imagery.
