David Jarvis

London-based artist David Jarvis obtains his subject matter from direct observation of the world around him.

His garden and local parks provide the basis for much of his work. Returning to these same sites makes nature his key concern, yet at the same time, revisiting such themes allows for him to study themes of transience, contingency and ambiguity.

These interests can be explored by considering the local colour, the fleeting lighting conditions and even the relationship between objects and their reflections. The results are often intriguing.

London-based artist David Jarvis obtains his subject matter from direct observation of the world around him.

His garden and local parks provide the basis for much of his work. Returning to these same sites makes nature his key concern, yet at the same time, revisiting such themes allows for him to study themes of transience, contingency and ambiguity.

Art at Camberwell School of Art, later taking a Masters degree in Fine Art Printmaking. He has over twenty years’ experience of art teaching, which he has frequently combined with work in the theatre, including teaching at RADA.

He now works full time as a practicing artist. He is also Vice Chair of the Printmakers Council.

Jarvis has exhibited across Britain, from the Groucho Club to the Seaford Crypt.

He has received commissions from Tempest Radford for numerous clients and his work is held in private and corporate collections across the UK, Europe and South Africa.
