Andrew Curtis’ subject for his work is the environment around him, the places he lives in and the space he travels through; landscapes, architecture and interiors that reference each other through structure, colour and sequence. Photography, drawing, bookmaking, painting, printing are made to overlap, feed each other and produce physical and conceptual results beyond their individual capability.

The works shown here document snapshots of Britain’s landscape that often go unnoticed. Whether the image features a disused rollercoaster or a single bird flying in an empty sky, there is almost always an element of peaceful solitude in Curtis’s work.

Curtis studied Fine Art Printmaking at Winchester School of Art, graduating in 2002. From 2002 to 2007 he worked as a lithographer at The Curwen Studio, Cambridge, whilst teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level. He is currently studying at the RCA and working part time at Corriander Studio, London.

He has exhibited in a number of exhibitions, including ‘S.P.G.W’, MOMA-Wales, 2007, ‘Jetlag’, Cambridge Arts Picture House, 2006, ‘A2V’, BLOCspace, Sheffield, 2005 and his work has been collected by the V&A Museum.
